Children must bring a note signed by their parent or guardian for every day, or series of days, on which they are absent. If your child has an extended absence please telephone the school and leave a message with the secretary; however a note must still be sent when the child returns to school. For anticipated long term absences (eg. overseas travel), please give written notice in advance to the Class Teacher.
It’s NOT ok to be Away
Parents should ensure their child:
attends school on ALL school days.
is on time every day
arrange doctor and dentist appointments out of school hours
arrange personal shopping trips with your son/daughter or birthday celebrations out of school hours.
do not allow your child to stay at home for minor reasons.
Regular attendance at school is important:
from the first day, if your child misses the basic skills in primary school they can experience difficulties with their learning.
regular attendance is essential to make sure learning is not disrupted. Regular learning provides building blocks for the future.
Schools help children to develop important social skills, such as friendship building, teamwork, communication skills and a healthy self-esteem.
Book Club (Ashton Scholastic)
During the school year Ashton Scholastic offer a number of books for purchase by you. Book Club offers are made about every two months.
Please
ensure that your child's name and class are clearly marked at the top of the order form and on the well-sealed
envelope containing the order and money. Books are delivered approximately three weeks after the orders are sent away.
Hours of Supervision
The school grounds are supervised by teachers from 8.45 am. until 3.45 pm. and it is only between these times that
the school is responsible for the supervision of students. Outside these times
supervision of students is the parents’ responsibility and we encourage parents to make use of the facilities available
in the Before and After School Child Care Program.
Payment may be made in the following ways:
Cash – the correct money would be appreciated. Please send money in a well-sealed envelope and ensure that your child's name and class are clearly marked. Payment can also me made directly to the office if preferred.
EFTPOS when paying at the office.
Cheque - should be marked "Not Negotiable" and payable to "Ruskin Park Primary School" Please ensure when writing cheques that sufficient funds are available as bank charges on any dishonoured cheques will be payable by the drawer.
School commences
at 9.00 am. sharp daily. It is your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child is always
on time for school. Warning music is played at 8.57 am. to allow children to move quietly to their
own assembly areas or grade rooms.

- Session 1 9.00 - 11.00 am.
- Morning Recess 11.00 - 11.25 am.
- Session 2 11.25 am. - 1.25 am.
- Lunch Eating 1.25 - 1.35 pm.
- Lunch Recess 1.35 - 2.30 pm.
- Session 3 2.30 - 3.30 pm.
- Dismissal 3.30 pm.
Students who arrive at school after 9.00 am. are required to collect late slip from the office.
