Ruskin Park Primary School Before School Care program began in 1996 following requests for an OSHC program from several families. During term 4 of the same year After School Care was introduced on a trial basis. Both programs proved successful and grew steadily over the years. In 2002 our application for 30 Australian Government funded places for After School care was approved and in 2003 we received approval for 15 Australian Government funded places for Before School Care. During 2004 we received a further allocation of five funded places for both Before and After School Care increasing our total to 20 funded Before School Care places and 35 funded After School Care places. In 2007 this number has increased to 30 places in Before School Care and 40 in After School Care.
Ruskin Park Primary School OSHC program is provided at minimal cost and enables parents to pursue options leading to employment, training, recreation and the pursuit of personal interests.
A wide variety of activities are prepared and implemented in a friendly environment, to cater for children’s social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs. In this way the Program endeavors to complement the school's activities and be consistent with the school's policies and practices.
The

Priority
will be given to students with special needs, those of working parents and
permanent bookings in accordance with the Ruskin Park Out of School Hours
Child Care Policy and Government Guidelines.
All
children must be enrolled prior to attendance.
You may enroll your child/children on a permanent (full-time or
part-time) or casual basis.
People
with permanent bookings should confirm these bookings at the beginning of
each term and notify the coordinators of any changes as far in advance as
possible.
Casual
bookings can be made in advance by notifying the program staff or School
Office.
Fees
must be paid weekly, fortnightly or in advance.
Some families opt to pay for the whole term or half a term in advance.
Casual users must pay on the day of use.
If
fees are not paid by the end of each term, your child/children will not be
permitted to attend the program the following term until all fees are paid.
If
your child/children will not be attending the program on a booked day you must
notify the program staff in advance or telephone on the day by 8.00
am. for Before School care and 12.00 noon for After School Care.
Please inform a staff
member when you collect a child and ensure you sign-out and note the time of
leaving.
Only those nominated on the enrolment form can collect your child/children from the Program. Written Permission from parent/guardian must be given for a person not on the enrolment form to collect children.
At
Before School Care you must sign-in and inform a staff member of your arrival.
It
is compulsory for all families to list emergency pick-up contacts that live
within the vicinity of the school on the enrolment form.
If any details change on the enrolment form, please notify the Coordinator in writing as soon as possible. This includes booked day/s, addresses, phone numbers, medical details, and list of people given permission to collect child/children.
Extended
Absence
(One
week or more)
If your child/children will be absent for an extended period, holiday, camp, serious illness with a medical certificate, parent on leave, please see program staff as fees for permanent bookings may be excluded for this time.
The
Program will not be responsible for children enrolled in extra-curricular
activities (e.g. music, dancing) during After School Care hours. If
your children are enrolled in classes whilst attending the program you must
ensure you have an approved person to sign-out and collect your child from the
program and escort them to the class. If
you wish, the child may be signed back into the program at the conclusion of the
lesson and be collected by a parent later on.
All
families are
eligible
for Childcare Benefit (CCB) regardless of family income.
It is the parent’s responsibility to apply for CCB, estimating your
income for the next financial year. If
you do not wish to provide your income details you can request to receive the
minimum CCB that is 16.82%.
The
Family Assistance Office (FAO), located in Centrelink, Medicare and Australian
Taxation Offices, deals with Childcare Benefit.
You
have two options to receive your Childcare Benefit (CCB):
1.
1. Claim CCB as a reduced fee.
This means that CCB is paid to the Program on behalf of families we
reduce your fees accordingly.
2.
2. Claim CCB as a lump sum after you have put in your taxation
return. This means that you pay your fees in full to the Program then
claim your CCB entitlements from the FAO after the end of the financial year.
If you choose this option you must see the Coordinator who will complete
the relevant form to request reference numbers for your family.
If
you do not wish to receive CCB at all, (either reduced fees or lump sum) you
must state this in writing to the Coordinator.
At
our Program you are charged for all permanent bookings regardless of attendance.
This means on days that your child is absent you are still charged for
that session. Childcare Benefit
will still apply for a maximum of 30 absences per financial year. These absence
days are called ‘Allowable
Absences’.
Once you have used 30 allowable absences you will be charged full fees
for any further absences. If you have a medical certificate from when your child was
absent please provide a copy to the Program and any days covered by the
certificate will not be included in the 30 allowable absences. These absence days are called ‘Approved
Absences’.
The
multiple child percentage can be used when siblings listed on the Assessment
Notice are in care for the same week in any approved
Childcare Centre, Family day Care or Outside School hours Care.
It is the parent’s responsibility to notify each service
provider of other children in care and changes to those arrangements.
Before
School Care and After
School Care at Ruskin Park are approved services.
